________

Things got messy late in the game, Sunday, for the Eagles. (Philly.com)

What a great way to cap off a weekend in Philadelphia sports.

All eyes shifted toward the Eagles today after Philly’s $25 million man watched our city’s World Series dreams go down the drain, taking a direct route through the strike zone. The Eagles were in great position to go into the bye week on a high note, but Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt had other plans, scoring all three of Tennessee’s offensive touchdowns as they routed the Eagles 37-19 thanks to an incredible Philadelphia meltdown in the fourth quarter.

Week 7 match up breakdown: Tennessee Titans

________

The Eagles will have a tough matchup going into Tenesse this weekend.

It’s more than remarkable that the Eagles stand at 4-2 with one game left against the Titans before the bye week, considering all the injuries they’ve had to deal with. In fact, the only two games they lost were the two games when the starting quarterback was replaced due to injury. Both of those games featured two terrible halves of play by Kevin Kolb, but he’s started and finished the last two games and has looked like a completely different quarterback and has posted two quarterback ratings over 100.

And you thought the quarterback controversy was settled.

Kevin Kolb put himself back in Andy Reid’s good graces with an outstanding performance as he led the Eagles to a 31-17 win over the Atlanta Falcons. Kolb was 23–29 for 326 yards, threw three touchdowns and one pick, and finished with a passer rating of 133.6. As for concerns about stretching the field, Kolb finished with 11.2 yards per attempt.

Speaking to reporters early Friday, Andy Reid announced that Kevin Kolb will start his third game of the season against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday—but Michael Vick could be dressed standing next to him on the sidelines.

No, it’s not another quarterback controversy, but Reid likes how Vick has improved this week and said although he doesn’t think he could go a full game, if he improves tomorrow like he did in Friday’s practice Vick could be on the sidelines and potentially used in some capacity. While that sounds great, don’t expect him to do more than answer a phone every now and then since Reid doesn’t typically press injuries. When the Eagles get Vick back, they want him back for good.

Latest injuries cause new problems for Eagles

LeSean McCoy still rushed for over 100+ yards, despite breaking his rib the week prior.

With the injury bug biting almost every team in the NFL, it’s hard to look at the Philadelphia Eagles’ situation and be worried. RB LeSean McCoy might have a broken rib, but he still had his third 100+ total yards from scrimmage game this season against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday.

After breaking the century mark in total yards from scrimmage for the third time this year, injured Eagles running back LeSean McCoy felt only one thing after Philly’s close-call 27-24 win in San Francisco: embarrassed.

That’s because McCoy dropped to the ground untouched at the Eagles’ 28 yard line after some smooth footwork got him out of the back field, thinking he was securing the ball, the first down and the win for his Eagles. Problem was, the first down marker was at their 30 yard line.

Week 5 match up breakdown: San Francisco 49ers

________

The Eagles will head to San Francisco to take on the 0-4 49ers, but can they escape with a victory? (Photo: Getty)

With Michael Vick ruled out for Sunday, Kevin Kolb will once again take the field as the starter for the Philadelphia Eagles. The San Francisco 49ers have greatly disappointed this season with many analysts picking them as their surprise NFC Super Bowl contender, but at 0-4 appear to be in a worse situation than they were last year when they finished 8-8. But with how flat the Eagles’ offense looks behind Kolb, the Niners’ 13 points per game could be enough to surprise Philly, especially if the Eagles run defense hasn’t improved. And in case Eagles fans have forgotten, this weekend marks another match up with a former Philly great: Brian Westbrook.
