These plaques, available for $99, can help youngsters living with life-threatening illnesses' dreams come true.

There is no denying the potential for greatness each night at Citizens Bank Park. In a city where little matters more than its sports teams, we can’t contain the excitement of seeing four of baseball’s best pitchers go on back-to-back-to-back-to-back nights.

But now and then, we are all reminded that we spend our time and energy in the fun and games department of life.

Across the Delaware Valley, children are living with life threatening conditions. And while seeing Cliff Lee, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels or Roy Oswalt pitch can brighten an otherwise pain-filled, gloomy day, nothing makes someone smile quite as brightly as when their biggest wish is granted.

Each day, the Make-a-Wish Foundation does just that. Whether it’s meeting your favorite athlete, one of the Beetles, having your bedroom redecorated or getting to go to college, the organization turns dreams into reality for some of the country’s sickest youngsters.

Now, you have a chance to help.

Mounted Memories is producing a fully licensed, limited edition (2,011 to be made) framed and mounted photo plaque, 15 x 17 inches, that includes 4 by 6 inch photos of each of the Phillies “four aces” along with game used dirt from Citizens Bank Park that will be inset into the double matting in the center of the presentation, along with an engraved name plate.

Priced at $99 each, fans can order from Nikco Sports by calling 1-800-345-2868 or visiting www.nikcosports.com. Each plaque is individually numbered.

A portion of the proceeds go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation of Philadelphia & Susquehanna Valley.

We all watch sports as a distraction from the hardships of our everyday lives. But for some people, the games themselves cannot pull them far enough away from the terror and misery which surrounds them every second of every day.

Luckily the Make-a-Wish Foundation is there to support these incredibly courageous and astonishingly strong young boys and girls. Now is your chance to help.
