Don’t let Akers comments define Reid

There’s one topic dominating sportsradio right now. And it isn’t even Wing Bowl.

Sunday morning’s Philadelphia Inquirer carried the heartbreaking story of a six-year-old girl finding out she had a cyst in her left ovary that would need to be removed. Her father had to miss work that day, never escaping the constant fear of cancer, to help her through the tests.

Flyers write new chapter in franchise history with 1000th win

The Flyers became the first expansion team to reach 1000 home ice victories. Perhaps none showed the character of the franchise better than their home ice win on May 19,1974 when they were awarded their first Stanley Cup.

The Flyers’ 1000th home win couldn’t have come against a better team. The portrait of NHL history – the Montreal Canadiens – overtaken by the most storied team to come out of NHL expansion.

Over the last 43 years, the Philadelphia Flyers have made a name for themselves and their city on the way to becoming one of the most internationally recognizable franchises of the expansion-era NHL.

Flyers powerplay resurgent in 5-2 win

There was no mistaking the animosity between the two hockey clubs that took to the Wells Fargo Center ice Tuesday night. Things ended a lot like they started — with big hitting, some scattered shoving and lot of nasty words flying back and forth.

Devils outhustle Flyers, take 3-1 win

Peter Laviolette described his team’s 3-1 loss best when he said that New Jersey played a consistent game for three periods while his team only played two of the three and “the first one ended up costing us.”
