WIP’s Big Daddy Graham, who has become a well loved “sports” media figure has been diagnosed with throat cancer.
Just a short time after needing surgery to fix his back issues, the WIP overnight host has learned he has throat cancer according to multiple reports. Graham, who doubles as a stand-up comedian will miss at least two months. “My doctors say it’s curable. I’m going to survive. I know it could be a lot worse,” he told the Daily News.
Graham says he hasn’t touched a cigarette in 18 years.
Keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
Big Apple bound:
Just after losing former Wilmington News Journal Phillies beat writer Scott Lauber to Bean Town, we found out the local sports media scene would take another two hits.
Andy Martino and Mike Sielski are both headed to the dark side — New York.
Martino who spent just one year as the Phils beat man for the Inquirer is headed to the New York Daily News. Matt Gelb, who has already been assisting Martino on the beat would be the logical replacement.
Mike Sielski, a friend of High Hopes is heading to the Wall Street Journal. The nationally renowned author Fading Echoes has been at Calkins Media since 2003.
