Phillies sign Wilkerson

BY SHAY RODDY

CLEARWATER, Fla — 32-year-old Brad Wilkerson retired from baseball last season, so we thought. But now he’s back and it’s with the Phillies, according to reports.

The infielder/outfielder, who had his best days with the Expos has been signed to a minor league deal. After being cut from Boston and sent to Triple-A, he retired quickly. Now he wants another shot.

It’s unlikely the the left-handed hitter will have an impact on the big club this year, but he could prove handy as a versatile piece in the organization if someone were to go down to injury.
