Philadelphia Union train in snowy, cold Carolina

BY PHIL ANDREWS, Senior Writer

Last week the expansion Philadelphia Union trained indoors at a Philadelphia area healthplex. The ground outside was still wet from a recent snow fall and the temps certainly not on the tepid side.

Union head coach Peter Nowak, used the sessions to start getting his team tuned up for their first ever training camp. That training camp by the way kicking off this week in Greensboro, N.C.

Ah yes, soccer in North Carolina, green grass, warmer temps, and thermal underwear. Wait minute, thermal underwear?

Believe it or not, the Union was greeted Tuesday morning, by snow at the Bryan Park Soccer Complex, in Brown Summit. As you can see by the way above photo, the snow did not stop Nowak from sticking to his training session.

The Union are in North Carolina until Feb.16 with a scrimmage scheduled for the thirteenth against the Men’s squad from the University of North Carolina.

All in all the, expansion club has continued to stay the course focusing all their energy on their season opener, March 25 at Seattle against the Sounders.
