High Hopes is excited to announce a new weekly feature by new contributor Homer Plate. Homer has over twenty years of writing experience. After graduating with honors and a B.A. in Communications from Temple University, he started his career in LA as one of the leading freelance contributors to the nationally distributed board game ZOBMONDO!

Upon returning from LA, the writer entered the position of Vice President of Marketing for a local sports marketing firm. Among his accomplishments was the creation of the Willie Stargell All Star Golf Classic which coincided with the All Star Game in Philadelphia in 1996. While working with Steve Cordasco, host of the BigMoney Show on WWDB and WPHT 1210 The Big Talker, the writer and Steve created the first “financial talk radio show” that thrives to this day. He has also written and directed an original TV pilot and was a humor writer for Pennsylvania Golfer for two years.

Now, with High Hopes, he hopes to bring his brand of off-beat, humorous writing and combine it with his extensive knowledge and love of the Phillies in multiple columns weekly. His column will be called “Out of Left Field” since he hopes his insights will take you off the beaten path and into a bit of a more fun world, revolving around Phillies baseball.

Our first of three holiday contest was won by Dylan Zaccaria. Congrats to Dylan on winning a Phillies bottle opener keychain. If you didn’t win, you can still pick one up over at Wholesale Keychain.

Don’t fret, we still have two more coming up, just in time for the holiday.
